Job #418 South Carolina - Pulmonary / Critical Care Coastal Carolina Pulmonology Employment OpportunityJob Description: We are screening for a position in a very desirable city on the Coast of the Carolinas. Our client is seeking to employ two to three pulmonologists. There is clearly a growing need for consultative services with this hospital; system especially the Endoscopic ultrasound skills. The ICU unit is an open unit and also offers a step-down unit. This medical center also employs a hospitalist program so the candidates will know that they won't be getting a ton of direct hits from the ER but rather being consulted on an "as needed" basis. There is an option with the hospital’s neuro-spine program and those doctors desire to integrate a pulmonologist more fully into their team and care planning. Especially as it relates to growing the intracranial business. They have an 11 bed general medical -surgical ICU, meaning that they have a mixture of medically ill as well as surgical patients. With 5 neuro surgeons on staff and having OR time every day of the week, they see quite a few craniotomy patients in addition to the usual spine surgery. They do have a good mix of general surgery patients in addition. The medical patients are primarily pulmonary, GI, or neuro in nature, as most of the cardiac patients are admitted to the hospital. Almost all of the patients in the ICU have a pulmonary physician either as a consultant or as the attending, and they have their share of ventilator patients. Their average census is 8 on any given day. The unit is very well staff with seasoned RNs, have had no nursing turnover for more than a year. They also have 2 step-down units, one an 18 bed medical telemetry unit and one an 18 bed surgical telemetry unit.
